The Citizens Band contribute to the 2007 Lunchbox Auction

Fellow Citizens,

The holidays are a time to come together with family. But with the dire shortage of emergency food available to New York City’s network of approximately 1,000 food assistance programs, many low-income families will be struggling to put food on the table.

Normally filled with 7-8 million pounds of food, The Food Bank's warehouse is now at 3 million pounds. In the last couple years, the city's soup kitchens and food pantries have lost approximately 12 million pounds of food due to cutbacks and flat-funding of TEFAP, the federal emergency food assistance program.

The Citizens Band have contributed 3 specially designed lunch boxes to the 2007 Lunchbox Auction. The online auction beings on December 7th at 12am EST. 100+ iconic celebrities from the entertainment, fashion, art, music, literary and culinary worlds have created personalized lunchbox art for the auction and the funds raised will benefit two hunger-relief organizations — Food Bank For New York City and The Lunchbox Fund of South Africa. Each lunchbox is signed and numbered and no two lunchboxes are alike.
